Neymar decided to join Barcelona after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez disrespected him in their first meeting, reports El Mundo Deportivo.
The Brazilian star was open to joining either of Spain's biggest football clubs in the summer following his decision to leave hometown club Santos.
But after meeting with Real Madrid's president Perez, his decision was seemingly made for him.
According to the Spanish daily , Perez gave off a terrible first impression and even suggested that Neymar would be playing for Real Madrid Castilla if he joined the club - the youth team.
After originally being convinced by his agent Wagner Ribeiro to meet with Bernabeu officials first, Perez simply botched attempts to bring Neymar to the Spanish capital.
Whilst also displaying an arrogant tone, Neymar and his father were left stunned by Perez's manor and couldn't envisage themselves at Real afterwards.
The 21-year-old went to meet Perez's counterpart Sandro Rosell before eventually agreeing to move to Barcelona for £49m.
In his first season at Barcelona he has so far made 13 appearances in the La Liga, scoring four goals and assisting eight.
He is widely tipped to be the star of the Fifa World Cup in Brazil next summer.
Real Madrid went on to sign Gareth Bale for a world record fee of £86m.
