Please Don`t Be Stubborn

Please Don`t Be Stubborn

I was looking at Brazil's last match at Olympics and in the second half they reverted to a 4-3-3 from their usual 4-2-3-1. Oscar was playing as the advanced midfielder on the left of the midfield 3. His link up play with Neymar was superb who was playing on the left wing and that is what gave Neymar the platform to produce a man of the match performance. Neymar has got all the tricks and flicks but even he needs possession to apply them as any other player of his class does.Oscar's link up play on the left with him gave him this possession and the chance to apply his skills. Coming back to Chelsea, similar link up play can be created between Oscar playing on the advanced left position in the midfield in a 4-3-3 with Hazard on the left wing. Hazard too got the tricks and flicks and can even cross. He can do what Neymar did for Brazil and would be provided ample possession by Oscar. Mata can create similar link play on the right with Marin or our new right winger. This system utilizes perfectly our current crop of midfielders. Lampard and Ramires can be used to great effect in this system with their box to box qualities, while Mata, Oscar and Josh provide the link up play. Mikel, Essien and Romeu are the contenders for the defensive midfielder role. Although Meireles is the odd one out in this system and Malouda and Yossi definitely need to be sold. RDM does not look like a stubborn guy. If he is the one that accepts change then 4-3-3 is the way forward with the current crop of players we got barring the need of a deep lying playmaker as in a 4-2-3-1 and also providing the fast link up play every Chelsea fan craves for.The only doubt about this formation is if Torres will succeed in it. A high quality back up striker is vital in this formation. We all know what happened the last time a manager was stubborn about using his single formation. It would be ironic if RDM does not utilize the 4-3-3 when finally we have got the players to play it. If RDM is stubborn he would fall but if he accepts the change he has a good chance of succeeding. Your thoughts are most welcome.KTBFFH
