Neymar touch to Brazil victory

Neymar touch to Brazil victory
Neymar set up two goals and scored from a free kick to help Brazil beat Belarus 3-1 here, securing the gold-medal favourite a spot in the quarterfinals of the men's Olympic football tournament. Neymar struck a well-placed right-foot shot into the left upper corner of the net in the 65th minute to break a deadlock as Brazil struggled to get near the Belarus goal despite controlling possession at Old Trafford.

Belarus opened the scoring through Brazilian-born playmaker Renan Bressan in the eighth, but Alexandre Pato equalised with a header in the 15th after a cross by Neymar, who also set up Oscar's final goal in injury time. The victory gives Brazil six points in Group C, three more than Belarus.

Seventh heaven

The South Korean trio of Ki Bo Bae, Lee Sung-Jin and Choi Hyeonju beat China in a nail-biting final 210-209 to win their seventh consecutive gold in the Olympics. With this win, South Korean women have never lost since archery was included in the Summer Games. China's Cheng Ming, Fang Yuting, Xu Jing did put up a spirited performance on a rainy day, but the Koreans never let them off the leash.

Vos' final plunge

A split-second decision meant Marianne Vos finally struck road race gold at the Olympics on Sunday after years of taking silver at the world championships.

Second at the worlds every year since 2007, the Dutchwoman rode an aggressive race and made the right moves when it mattered.

Vos launched her sprint some 150 metres from the finishline, jumping past bronze medallist Olga Zabelinskaya of Russia. Lizzie Armitstead was in her wheel but Vos's move was too sudden for the British rider to follow.

"The Olympics is different than the world championships. I knew it was a different race," Vos said. "You don't have to think about the years before."
