Donato was born in Brazil, moving to Spain from Vasco da Gama in 1988 when he signed for Atletico Madrid. After becoming a Spanish citizen in 1994, he went on to represent Spain 12 times at international level.
The 50-year-old continues to take a keen interest in his homeland’s football though and feels perfectly placed to comment on the benefits of a move to Spain for Santos striker Neymar.
"Neymar would be perfect for Barcelona", he explained to Radio Xarxa.

Neymar is under contract with Santos until 2014 and has vowed not to leave his homeland before that deal expires.
Santos are also pulling out all the stops to persuade Neymar to pen a new, extended contract to remain in Brazil.
