Brazilian sensation Neymar has rubbished rumours that he is on his way out of Santos this summer. There were widespread rumours of a summer move to the Nou Camp this summer after Dani Alves revealed that a deal was in place for a summer transfer but the 21 year-old winger maintained that he will move to Europe only when he feels that the time is right.
The Brazil international has been fervently chased by a host of clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich but Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident of signing the promising winger whenever he leaves Santos. Neymar has maintained that he plans to leave the club after the 2014 World Cup that will be held in Brazil but European clubs have increased the pressure on Santos this season.
ESPN FC quoted Neymar as saying, “People make many false stories but I'm happy at Santos, trying to help my team the best way I can. If I feel it's time to leave, I'll leave. There is no contract [with Barcelona], that's not true.”
Alves’ comments could be viewed as a Barca strategy to compel Santos to sell, a tactic they used when trying to sign Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas. For now, it seems that Neymar will stay back in Brazil, but reports of a departure will once again gather steam this summer and a move to Spain seems like a real possibility.
